Tip
Two: Access
hidden Mac OS X
features with TinkerTool.
TinkerTool
is a free utility that gives you access to a variety of Mac OS
X’s hidden features. Most of these features can be accessed
through special terminal commands (if you know how), but TinkerTool
provides a simple interface for a wide variety of options.

A
short list of some useful features accessible by TinkerTool include:
-
Adding more options for placement of the Dock.
- Adding double-scroll arrows to windows.
- Force an updated import of Internet Explorer favorites into
Safari.
- Change the default image format of Mac OS X Tiger screenshots.
Warning:
This utility allows you to get below the surface of Mac OS X in
ways we don't normally recommend to clients. Be cautious and always
have a good backup in place to protect yourself.
