CreativeTechs QuickTips #48 Week of July 4, 2005

Tip One: Change the screen behind the login window.

Want to change the background image Mac OS X displays when you first log into your computer? It is pretty easy to do.

Choose or create a new background image for your Mac. Save it as a JPEG file.

Open the Desktop Pictures folder tucked inside the Library folder on your startup disk. Inside this folder should be a collection of Apple's standard desktop images. The picture named "Aqua Blue.jpg" is automatically used as the background image behind the login window.

Rename your new background image "Aqua Blue.jpg" and replace this file. (Probably want to back up the old one first). When you log out, your new image should appear behind the login window.
